Man in critical condition after stabbing - Panania

An investigation is underway following a stabbing, that left a man in a critical condition, in Sydney's south west today.

About 7am (Wednesday 23 September 2020), emergency services were called to Clifford Street near Dalziel Avenue, Panania, after reports of an assault.

Police have been told a 34-year-old man was standing next to his car on the street when another car pulled up next to him.

Three unknown men got out of the vehicle and assaulted the man, before he was stabbed, and the men fled the scene.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
