A 23 year old Waverley man is in custody over a serious assault at Waverley early Wednesday morning which has left a 48 year old Prospect man in hospital in intensive care, Tasmania Police say.
Detective Inspector Philippa Burk said that detectives from Launceston CIB conducted a number of searches this morning in relation to the incident.
"Extensive enquiries and further investigations are currently being conducted and a unit in Allwinton Court, Waverley, has been declared a crime scene," Detective Inspector Burk said.
"Launceston CIB Detectives and Tasmania Police Forensics personnel are conducting forensic examinations at that site."
