Man injured during armed robbery in Whalan

Inquiries are underway after a man was injured during an armed robbery in Whalan tonight.

About 7.20pm today, two masked men armed with an unknown weapon entered a supermarket on Bulolo Drive and threatened staff, NSW Police say.

An altercation took place, during which a male staff member received a facial injury.

The men fled the scene and emergency services were called.

Police from Mt Druitt Local Area Command attended. The staff member was taken to hospital. He is understood to be in a stable condition. His age is not known at this stage.

A crime scene was established which will be examined by forensic specialists.

The two offenders were last seen fleeing the scene on foot on Bulolo Drive.
