Man injured during assault in Bonnyrigg

A man remains in hospital with serious head injuries after an altercation with a relative at their home in Bonnyrigg overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.45am today, two men became involved in an argument at a home in Gurley Place.

A brawl ensued with several items in the garden of the home getting broken during the altercation.

Police believe that during the fight a 30-year-old man picked up a large rock and struck a 27-year-old man in the head several times.

The younger man collapsed and emergency services were contacted.

Both men were treated at the scene for their injuries and conveyed to Liverpool Hospital.

The younger man was conveyed in a critical condition with head injuries while the older man had minor injuries.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command established a crime scene at the home and seized several items.

The 27-year-old man remains in hospital with a fractured skull and left eye socket which will require surgery.

The 30-year-old man has recently been released from hospital and conveyed to Fairfield Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
