Two men have been charged after a police operation in Moore Park yesterday afternoon.
About 4.45pm (Monday 3 August 2026), officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command with the assistance of specialist police responded to reports of a man carrying a firearm within the Entertainment Precinct at Moore Park.
On arrival, officers located two men, one of which allegedly wearing a vest and carrying a firearm.
The two men, aged 35 and 39, were arrested and a replica firearm, a vest, plastic handcuffs, and a badge were seized.
Both were taken to Surry Hills Police Station where during a search of the older man, police allegedly located an amount of prohibited drugs.
The younger man was charged with possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place and behave in offensive manner in/near public place/s.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 7 today (Tuesday 4 August 2026).
The older man was charged with possess prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 20 August 2026.
