Man killed after car hits tree at Myrtleford

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Myrtleford this morning.

Investigators believe a car was driving on the Great Alpine Road shortly after 2am when the car left the road and crashed into a tree.

A member of the public has come across the crash scene and located a male occupant deceased outside the car.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Road blocks are in place for south-east bound traffic on the Great Alpine Road between the Myrtleford township and Happy Valley Road.
