Man left with critical injuries following assault in Tamworth

Police are calling for witnesses after a man was attacked outside an address in Tamworth during the early hours this morning, NSW Police say.

About 1.30am today police were called to an address in Green Street following reports of a large number of people brawling.

Upon arrival police saw a man suffering serious head and facial injuries after being struck in the head with a brick and a bottle.

The 32-year-old man was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital. Following an assessment of his injuries he was then flown to a hospital in Sydney where he remains in a critical but stable condition with a fractured skull.

Police from Tamworth are continuing their inquiries into the assault and are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
