Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a teenager was sexually assaulted in Footscray last month, Victoria Police say.
Police have been told a 17-year-old boy was getting off the train at Footscray Railway Station when he was sexually assaulted by a man about 5.20pm on 22 February.
The offender boarded a Sunbury bound train shortly after and got off at Albion Railway Station.
The man is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, 160-170cm tall with a stocky build and dark brown hair.
He was wearing a blue hooded jumper, satchel bag and jean shorts.
Police have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who has information about the incident or the man’s identity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
