Man Shot - Albion Road in Bridgewater, TAS

At 7.30 pm Thursday 13 December 2018 a 26 year old man was shot by the occupant of a car in Albion Road, Bridgewater.  The man was walking or riding a bike at the time, Tasmania Police say.

The man was taken to hospital and his injuries are not considered life threatening.  The man is conscious and known to police.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel said: ‘Detectives and forensic police are on scene and investigations have commenced to identify the occupants of two or possibly three vehicles that left Albion Road in hurry a short time later.

Detectives are speaking with witnesses and initial indications are the shooting is not a random attack and the people involved are known to each other.

Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘These young men must find another way to settle their differences without recourse to firearms.  Family and friends are affected, and now another person faces a potential jail sentence when found’.

Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘Witnesses are coming forward and once again the Bridgewater community has greatly assisted police who are in Albion Road.

Patrols will be stepped in the area for the remainder of the evening, but there is no further ongoing threat in Albion Road.
