Man Shot During Home Invasion At Griffith

A man has been shot during a home invasion in the states south overnight.

About 11.15pm yesterday (Saturday 16 March 2024), emergency services responded to reports that a man had been shot at a home on Carrathool Street, Griffith.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District were informed that three males forced entry into the premises through the front door where the occupant - a 44-year-old man - was allegedly shot in the left leg.

A second male resident of the home was also allegedly threatened with a firearm but was not injured.

The three males have then left the premises.

The injured man was driven by the other male occupant to Griffith Base Hospital where he was later transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, and detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident.

There is no ongoing risk to the community.
