Man sought after Byron Bay assault, NSW

Police are appealing for assistance to identify a man wanted in relation to an assault at Byron Bay overnight, NSW Police say.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District have been told two men were involved in a scuffle inside a hotel on Jonson Street about 11.25pm (Friday 4 May 2018), when one hit the other in the face with a glass.

A 36-year-old man sustained a cut above his left eye after being hit by the glass, and was taken to Byron Bay Hospital for treatment.

Patrons intervened but the other man ran from the hotel.

Police are now appealing for public assistance to identify a man they believe can assist with this investigation.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 25-30, about 180cm tall with a thin build, brown hair, and was wearing a white shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Byron Bay Police or Crime Stoppers.
