Police are appealing for public assistance as they search for a man following a serious firearm incident near Mudgee last night, NSW Police say.
It’s believed he could be armed and should not be approached.
William George Stafford, 76, previously lived at Olinda, south-east of Mudgee, but was most recently staying in Portland. He is believed to have travelled to Olinda last night.
His current whereabouts are unknown and police are seeking information from any person who might have seen him or has information on his location.
Mr Stafford is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, about 160-165cm tall with a solid build, grey, balding hair and brown eyes.
He could be travelling in one of three cars, including a silver 1997 Holden Executive sedan with NSW registration AR 21 GM, a beige 1988 Toyota panel van with NSW registration ANT 60F, or a red 1984 Nissan Patrol utility with NSW registration UDZ 847.
Anyone who sees Mr Stafford should not approach him but call police via Triple Zero (000) immediately. Any person with other information regarding Mr Stafford’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers.
