A woman has been arrested following a serious assault in Port Augusta yesterday afternoon.
About 3.30pm Saturday 4 October, police and paramedics were called to a Higginson Street, Port Augusta home following reports that a person had been stabbed.
The victim, a 33-year-old man from Port Augusta, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics. He was subsequently airlifted to Adelaide in a critical condition.
A 47-year-old local woman was swiftly arrested by patrols at the address. She has been charged with attempted murder.
She was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Port Augusta detectives and crime scene investigators attended the scene and are investigating the incident.
Police wish to reassure the community that this was not a random incident, with both parties involved known to each other.
