Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a large number of tools were stolen from a construction site in Chadstone, Victoria Police say.
Police understand an unknown man attended the work site located at a shopping centre on Dandenong Road, about 4.30pm on 27 September.
The man accessed the tools after breaking into a locked tool box.
Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
He is perceived to be southern European, about 185cm tall, long black hair in ponytail and wearing fluoro work clothes.
Anyone who recognises the males or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
