Man suffers burns following deliberately lit fire, NSW

A crime scene has been established following a fire at a home in Bardwell Valley yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.50pm (Monday 10 December 2018), NSW Ambulance paramedics attended a home on Mawson Street for a routine check on a 41-year-old man.

Shortly after their arrival paramedics called for urgent police assistance after the patient allegedly became aggressive and allegedly set fire to the premises.

Officers from St George Police Area Command responded and arrived to find the home alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers extinguished the fire that damaged the front of the home, while paramedics treated the man for significant burns to his arms and legs. He was taken to St George Hospital where he remains in an induced coma.

Detectives from St George Police Area Command have commenced an investigation.
