Man suffers stab wounds; man charged in Parramatta

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man in Centenary Square, Parramatta yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police will allege the incident occurred about 4.15pm (Monday 19 November 2018), when a 46-year-old man was sitting on a seat in Centenary Square.

A 36-year-old man, armed with a knife, approaches the man and allegedly stabs him in the abdomen with a knife.

Emergency services were called, and the older man was taken to hospital for surgery to a large wound to his stomach, and a laceration to his hand.

Hi injuries are not considered life threatening.

The younger man was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 20 November 2018).

Both men are known to each other.
