Man with a firearm holds up Yallambie store

Mill Park Serious Crime Taskforce is investigating an armed robbery at Yallambie and an attempted armed robbery at Kew East last month, Victoria Police say.

The first incident took place at a convenience store on Lower Plenty Road at Yallambie on Thursday 3 August just after 11.30pm.

Investigators have been told that a balaclava-clad man, armed with a firearm, entered the store carrying a small cardboard box with a bag in it.

The man approached the counter, threatening the attendant with the gun, and demanding that he fill the bag with cash.

The attendant complied with the man’s demand before he ran from the store.

Some hours later around 2am, on Friday 4 August, the offender struck again, this time targeting a service station on Burke Road in Kew East.

On this occasion the offender approached the attendant and demanded he fill the bag with cash, but the quick-thinking attendant activated an alarm, causing the man to run from the store.

The offender is described as being approximately 180cms tall, with a medium to solid build.

Investigators have released an image and CCTV of the man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
