Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government has tabled the Integrity Commission Amendment (Mandatory Notifications) Bill 2025 in the House of Assembly.

The Bill introduces a mandatory requirement on principal officers of public authorities to notify the Integrity Commission of any matter or information that the principal officer suspects on reasonable grounds involves or may involve:

These amendments address recommendation 18.11 of the final report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government's Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings to oblige public authorities to notify the Integrity Commission of any allegations of serious misconduct.

Attorney General, Guy Barnett, said this important Bill will implement a recommendation of the Commission of Inquiry, and related recommendations of the Cox Review.

"This is the first stage of our Government's broader legislative reform program relating to the Integrity Commission Act," the Attorney said.

"A second Bill, proposing a number of reforms to implement recommendations from expert reviews, including the Cox Review, will be released for public consultation by the end of 2025."
