Manslaughter charge after fatal, NSW

A man has been charged following investigations into a fatal crash near Albury last month, NSW Police say.

It’s alleged between 1am and 9am on Tuesday 14 August 2018, a Mitsubishi sedan was stolen from an address in Victoria.

About 9am that same day, the stolen vehicle was allegedly being driven north on the Olympic Highway, Tabletop, by a 25-year-old man.

It’s alleged the driver lost control of the car and collided head-on with a Mazda CX-5 killing the 44-year-old male driver.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to Albury Base Hospital suffering injuries.

Yesterday (Monday 3 September 2018), officers from Southern Crash Investigation Unit and Detectives from Albury attended Albury Hospital and arrested the man.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with manslaughter, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and aggravated break and enter.

He appeared in Albury Local Court yesterday where bail was refused.

He is due to re-appear in Albury Local Court on Friday 5 October 2018.
