MARC Car Park Lighting Overhaul Begins

light pole and concrete block to be removed from MARC carpark

We're about to start work on replacing the public lighting in the car park at the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Glen Waverley.

In October 2025, a structural condition audit of the existing light poles in the car park recommended that they should be replaced. At the time, we put some temporary concrete supports in place to allow adequate time for the procurement and replacement of the poles.

From July to December 2026, we'll be carrying out the recommended replacement works.

During this time, we'll also be taking the opportunity to future‑proof the site by installing a dedicated data conduit that will support potential CCTV security coverage of the car park.

What will we be doing?

  • Removing the existing light poles and temporary concrete pole support blocks.
  • Installing temporary lighting.
  • Laying foundations for new light poles.
  • Installing, connecting and aiming the new light poles.
  • Providing a data conduit for future CCTV infrastructure.

What impacts will there be?

  • The number of car parking bays will be temporarily reduced.
  • Traffic management will be in place to allow the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles around the works area.
  • All MARC programs will continue as usual, however, participants arriving for time-dependent services - like group fitness classes, swimming lessons, personal training - are encouraged to allow additional time when planning their visit.

We'll continue to keep MARC patrons and the community updated as replacement works progress. To stay in touch, or to ask a question:
