On November 9, Marcel Cobussen received the Best Speaker Award of the 2021 Conference on Sound, Sound Studies, and Soundscaping.

On that same day Marcel Cobussen gave a talk at the Dutch conference on sound, vibrations, and air quality. In this talk he concentrated on the sonic (re)design of the Hofplein square in Rotterdam, a (re)design not only based on the intrinsic qualities of the sounds themselves, but, first of all, on the sonic experiences of residents and users, as well as on interactions of sounds with their environment. The presentation also dealt with the social, political, ecological, and even ethical aspects and roles of sound in public spaces. For his talk Cobussen received the best speaker award.
