Marine Incident Prompts Infringement Notices

Gold Coast Water Police have continued investigations into a recent incident involving jet ski behaviour at Broadbeach Waters and as a result of enquiries, officers identified the vessel involved.

On 21 August, police executed a search warrant at a Mermaid Waters address linked to the registered owner of the jet ski.

The vessel and associated equipment were located, and police were able to identify the alleged offender.

The alleged offender later attended the Gold Coast Water Police office and made admissions to the behaviour.

A 16-year-old Reedy Creek boy was issued with infringement notices for exceeding the gazetted speed limit, and a marine infringement was issued in relation to freestyle manoeuvres and wave jumping within 30 metres of another vessel.

Gold Coast Water Police remain committed to working with Maritime Safety Queensland to ensure the safety of all waterway users and will continue to take enforcement action where offences are detected.
