Mascot Library Renewal: Bayside

The renewal of Mascot Library is set to breathe new life into one of Bayside's most loved community spaces, as part of Bayside Council's City Projects Program for the 2025/26 financial year.

This important project will deliver essential upgrades that improve the building's safety, comfort and functionality - ensuring the library continues to serve the community for many years to come.

To make this renewal possible, Mascot Library will be temporarily closed while works take place, with reopening expected in mid-to-late February 2026, subject to construction progress.

The project will include an upgraded air-conditioning system for better comfort year-round, refreshed bathrooms, internal and external repairs and repainting, roof repairs to protect the building, and minor internal wall reconfiguration to create a more welcoming and flexible library layout.

Following a competitive Request for Quotation process, Boylson Pty Ltd has been appointed to carry out the works. The company brings strong experience in delivering community-focused renewal projects, helping ensure the upgrade is carried out to a high standard.

For the safety of staff and visitors, Mascot Library will close from Monday 5 January 2026 until the works are complete in February. These essential upgrades will improve safety, fire compliance and overall usability - creating a brighter, safer and more inviting space when the doors reopen.

During the closure, the community is encouraged to visit other Bayside Library branches - including nearby Eastgardens Library - or continue accessing digital services online.

Once completed, the renewed Mascot Library will offer a revitalised and more enjoyable experience for everyone who loves reading, learning and connecting in this valued community hub.
