Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has called on Queenslanders to once again mask up to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The discovery of additional cases of community transfer in Queensland and the risk of the highly infectious Delta strain has prompted a return to increased restrictions including the use of masks.
As of 1am tomorrow:
- Masks are required whenever you leave home including on public transport, in taxis and rideshare, and in shopping centres and supermarkets, hospitals and aged care facilities, restaurants and cafes, churches and indoor workplaces (where social distancing isn't possible).
- Only 30 people are allowed in your home
- Wedding ceremonies and funerals can have 100 attendees
- Indoor venues are allowed one person per four square metres
These measures are for the following local council areas only:
- Noosa
- Sunshine Coast
- Ipswich
- Logan
- Redlands
- Moreton
- Brisbane
- Gold Coast
- Scenic Rim
- Lockyer Valley, and
- Somerset
The Premier said the measures will be in place for the next two weeks.
"These are important measures we know will work because they have worked before," the Premier said.
"I'm calling on everyone to wear a mask and help us stop the spread of this new strain and keep our community safe."
