Murray River Council will commence an upgrade of the Mathoura Recreation Reserve Playground from 29 January 2026, delivering a modern and inclusive play space for the community.
The existing playground will be replaced with new equipment designed to cater for a wide range of ages and abilities, creating a more welcoming and accessible space for families, children and visitors.
The project will include:
- Demolition and disposal of the existing play equipment
- Site preparation works, including ground levelling and upgrading of the sub-base if required
- Installation of a new, locally themed play unit featuring slides, climbing structures and swings
- Installation of soft fall surfacing to improve safety
To allow the works to be completed safely, the playground will be closed for approximately four weeks, with the area not accessible to the public during construction.
Mayor, Cr John Harvie, said the upgrade will provide a valuable boost to the recreation reserve.
"Once complete, the upgraded playground will provide improved recreational opportunities and encourage even more community use of the Mathoura Recreation Reserve."
"We hope it will be a welcoming space for local families and visitors and an important asset for the Mathoura community."
Council thanks the community for their patience while these important works are carried out.
