Road Patching Patrol

Road resealing and asphalt patching works commenced in the first week of May across the municipality and continued throughout the month.

This forms part of the ongoing program to maintain and improve local road conditions, ensuring the network remains safe for all road users.

Road Safety Upgrades

Swan Hill Rural City Council will deliver three key road-safety upgrades - including new pedestrian traffic lights on Beveridge and Campbell streets and traffic-calming measures on Werril Street - thanks to support from the Victorian Government and TAC.

These works will improve pedestrian safety, slow vehicles in residential areas and create safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

National Volunteer Week (18 - 24 May 2026)

Swan Hill Rural City Council extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers - both within Council and throughout the wider community - as part of National Volunteer Week.

This year's theme celebrated the power of volunteering to connect communities, and Council acknowledges the many individuals whose dedication enriches local events, services and community life across the municipality.

Council also encourages residents to explore local volunteering opportunities and discover the difference they can make.

At Council we are always on the lookout for volunteers. Visit our website to find out how to get involved.

DAHOBIT Day

IDAHOBIT Day was recognised on 17 May, marking the anniversary of the World Health Organization's 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from its classification of diseases.

To celebrate and raise awareness, Swan Hill Rural City Council hosted a special Storytime event at the Library on 16 May and partnered with headspace to deliver Drag Bingo on 15 May, promoting inclusion, respect and equality across our community.

May Means Business

Throughout May, Council is supporting May Means Business in partnership with Swan Hill Incorporated, a month-long program designed to strengthen and celebrate the local business community through networking, workshops and development opportunities. Events continue to bring businesses together from across the municipality to share ideas, build connections and support local growth.
