Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Everton Upper yesterday.
It is believed a Mazda CX8 and Volkswagen Tiguan collided on Beechworth-Wangaratta Road just after 3.30pm.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 74-year-old Beechworth woman, died at the scene.
Her female passenger was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mazda, a 41-year-old Beechworth woman, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Her passenger, a 7-year-old girl, was airlifted to hospital as a precaution.
The exact circumstances of the collision are yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.
