The Australian Government has launched the Medicare Mental Health Check In consumer campaign to raise awareness and encourage uptake of the free service among people at risk of experiencing worry, stress, low moods, or feeling overwhelmed.
Medicare Mental Health Check In uses a safe, evidence-based approach to help people build practical skills to manage and improve their mental health and feel more in control. The service is free and available for people aged 16 and over living in Australia.
Organisations, community groups and health services can now access a free Community Information Kit to provide information about Medicare Mental Health Check In.
The kit includes resources (translated in 10 languages) such as fact sheets, posters, videos and social media content to help communities learn about the service and the support available. The kit also includes resources tailored for multicultural and First Nations peoples to support conversations with these audiences.
The national advertising campaign will run until June 2027 across digital channels (online video, digital display, audio, social media and search) and regional and remote print. Activities encourage people to visit mentalhealthcheckin.gov.au or call 1800 595 212 to find out if the service suits their needs.
Advertising materials will be translated into four languages (Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese) to reach people with low English proficiency.
Consumer information resources are available in 10 languages (Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Italian, Tagalog/Filipino, Greek, Hindi, Punjabi, and Spanish).
Community organisations, local networks and health professionals are encouraged to download the free community kit and share the resources with their communities to help connect more people with free online mental health support.
