Detectives are investigating a collision and shooting in Epping tonight.
Emergency services were called to reports a car and truck colliding in the vicinity of the Hume Freeway exit/entry ramp and Cooper Street about 9.30pm.
One of the occupants of the car, a 23-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
A second occupant from the car, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening-injuries consistent with the collision.
The driver of the truck was not injured and remained on the scene.
Investigators do not believe that the truck driver had any involvement in the events leading to the 23-year-old man sustaining gunshot wounds.
Officers on scene located a car on fire a short distance away on Cooper Street.
Police are working to determine if the car fire is linked to the shooting and collision.
A significant crime scene has been established.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing.
