Melton Dad Wins Big with Numbers of 35 Years

In a thrilling turn of events, a Melton dad discovered that numbers he had been faithfully playing for over three decades secured him a whopping $1.7 million win in the recent Saturday Lotto draw.

The Victorian resident's ticket was one of three division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto's draw 4401 on Saturday, 23 September 2023. His total prize amounted to $1,720,277.26.

Since the ticket wasn't registered to a player card, lottery officials had no means to immediately contact the winner. Consequently, he remained unaware of his windfall until he checked his ticket.

Upon verification of his win, the father expressed his disbelief, exclaiming, "Oh my gosh. I’m still shaking. I feel like I’m living in a dream."

"Mate, I’ve been playing the same numbers for 35 years! I have had them for so long, I’ve forgotten what they even mean! This is incredible. I’ll be able to pay off my daughter's house and invest the rest!"

The life-changing 12-game marked entry was procured at Melton Lotto & TSG, located on 293 High St, Melton.

Phong Thai, the owner of Melton Lotto & TSG, shared his excitement over the news, stating, "It’s crazy – I’m stoked! I can’t believe we’ve sold yet another division one winning entry." He highlighted the store's track record, mentioning that this was their 62nd division one winning entry in two decades, with eight of those wins occurring in the past three years.

Thai's reputation as a lucky charm for his customers was evident as he remarked, "Many of my customers call me ‘Mr Lucky’."

The winning numbers for Saturday Lotto draw 4401 were 13, 16, 21, 29, 45, and 4, with supplementary numbers 11 and 6. Nationally, there were three division one winning entries in the draw – two from Victoria and one from New South Wales.
