Men's Sheds Grants Program

Roger Jaensch,Acting Minister for Disability Services and Community Development

Twenty-five Tasmanian Men's Sheds will share in $125,000 in funding to support shed development and to deliver projects that will benefit the wider community.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises the importance of Men's Sheds in supporting men's mental health and wellbeing.

Men's Sheds are a community version of the backyard shed, they provide a safe environment for men to share information and create long lasting mateship.

We want to see them continue to grow and provide a supportive place where men can get together, have a cuppa and work on projects that benefit the local community.

That's why we are investing in the Tasmanian Men's Shed Association (TMSA) Grants Program which allows sheds to apply for Capital Works grants of up to $20,000 and tools and Equipment grants of up to $5,000.

Successful applicants include:

*Huonville Men's Shed for a pod of five storage sheds;

*Bridport Community Men's Shed for the purchase and installation of solar panels;

*Zeehan Men's Shed for a 'hot work' shed;

*Penguin Men's Shed for tools and equipment;

*West Moonah Community Shed for shed safety equipment;

*Swansea Community and Men's Shed for a solar power installation;

*Sorell Men's Shed and Heritage Museum to improve health and safety in welding bay; and
