Michelago Bin Bank Access Hours Cut Starting Oct. 24

Rows of red and yellow-lidded domestic wheelie bins inside a concrete and steel structure.

Michelago Bank of Bins users are advised that 24/7 access ends on Friday 24 October 2025. The facility may be accessed daily between 8am and 6pm after this date until further notice.

Council has already notified service users of this change directly.

Why this change is being made

Council has been ordered by the NSW EPA to reduce the noise pollution caused by this facility.

The order requires that access hours are reduced to 8am–6pm each day.

Further changes are coming

Vehicle access will be rerouted and shielded from residential areas by acoustic fencing to further reduce noise pollution levels associated with the site.

This change will be bolstered by the installation of a new automated access restriction system to ensure that the new hours can be fully and sustainably enforced.

Council is asking for the cooperation of Michelago Bank of Bins users to help reduce the level of noise generated by this facility.

If noise pollution is not reduced, the EPA may order that the Michelago Bank of Bins is closed.
