The road connection between the MidCoast and the New England has been reestablished.
Thunderbolts Way was reopened on Monday 11 August albeit with restrictions still in place in some areas.
While the highway is now open there is still plenty of work to be done and MidCoast Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott urged motorists to take care.
"Crews are still expected to be working on sections of that road for some time and in some areas only one lane will be operational," he explained.
"So there still may be some delays and we are asking everyone to please be patient and observe all signage."
Mr Scott said the reopening of Thunderbolts Way was a testament to the crews who worked on the flood ravaged road.
"The damage done following the May floods was inconceivable. To be able to have that important link reopened with the amount of work that needed doing is an amazing feat."
