Middle East Hub Offers Rewards

Deployed on Operation Accordion, Corporal Nadine Flynn is leading warehouse operations in the Middle East.

As a storeman, she supports the signals team by managing equipment, stock and supply movements and will also manage the movement of dangerous goods.

Working alongside Royal Australian Air Force personnel, she is gaining experience across joint-service logistics.

This is Corporal Flynn's second deployment to the Middle East, having previously completed a six-month rotation.

She said working with different equipment and adapting to new supply chains was a rewarding challenge.

"It's still early days, but getting used to the systems and processes will be a great learning experience," she said.

In her downtime, Corporal Flynn is aiming to complete a 1000km running challenge over three months.

"I did it last time, but I had a lot longer to do it in," she said.

It's part of her personal goals to help maintain motivation and balance.

"It's hard being away from friends, so it's good to find something to do to keep the mind occupied," she said.

Corporal Flynn said the opportunity to work in a joint environment and support the mission was something she valued.

"To be able to deploy again in the first place is pretty exciting," she said.

When she returns home, Corporal Flynn looks forward to applying her new skills and experiences to future roles in Army.

"I'm excited to learn as much as I can and bring that knowledge back home," she said.

"I will also miss feeding the cockatoos back on base in Darwin."
