A Greenslopes man didn't anticipate that his midnight thirst would culminate in a life-changing discovery of a $1 million win in Monday Lotto.
The resident from Brisbane was the sole lucky winner of the division one prize in the Monday Lotto draw 4324, conducted on Monday, 25 September 2023, netting a grand total of $1 million.
This win marks the second time this month that Greenslopes has been in the spotlight, with another resident, a mother, also winning $1 million in the Saturday Gold Lotto about three weeks prior.
Recalling the unexpected moment, the winner shared, “I’d just taken a sip of my water when I decided to check my entry! I nearly dropped the glass on my foot,” he laughed when speaking with a lottery official.
“After that I don’t think I went back to sleep. My partner woke up and saw me sitting there and asked, ‘what’s going on, are you alright?’ I think I just laughed before telling her, ‘I won the lottery!’”
He further elaborated on what the win means for him and his family, “Look, it’s amazing and it’s definitely going to relieve a lot of stress in my life, but it’s also going to allow me to set up my parents too. It means I’ll be able to break into the property market and buy my first home. It means so much to me! You always dream that something like this will one day happen to you. I just feel so lucky that it actually did! Thank you.”
The winning ticket, a 12-game QuickPick entry, was bought online on the official lotto website.
