Since 2024 the Finocchiaro CLP Government has seen five major mining projects reach Final Investment Decision (FID) or secure committed funding.
Together, these projects represent more than $5 billion in announced capital investment, bringing with them growing employment opportunities for Territory workers.
In anticipation of growing workforces, major projects are investing in significant accommodation infrastructure.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government has returned momentum to Territory mining, with five major mining projects reaching Final Investment Decision (FID) or securing committed funding since 2024.
Together, these projects represent more than $5 billion in announced capital investment and thousands of construction and ongoing operational jobs across the Territory.
In anticipation of growing workforces, major projects are investing in accommodation infrastructure, with Arafura Rare Earth's Nolans Project expanding its 200-room facility, KGL's Jervois Copper Project developing a 252-room accommodation village, and Primary Gold's Mount Bundy establishing a dedicated 258-person camp.
Minister for Mining and Energy Gerard Maley said the projects demonstrate growing momentum in the Territory and highlighted the important role mining continues to play in driving economic growth, job creation and regional development.
"These projects did not happen by chance," Minister Maley said.
"We have been focused on creating a stable investment environment, backing industry growth and ensuring the Territory remains an attractive destination for major resource investment.
"Our operating mines continue to deliver jobs, royalties and economic benefits for Territorians, while major investments are strengthening the sector's future.
"As more resource projects move forward, Territory workers, businesses and communities must be the first to benefit and we are already seeing the positive results of these investments."
The last 12 months have been particularly significant, with FIDs secured for the Nolans Project, Jervois Copper Project, and the Finiss Lithium mine restarting operations.
The Territory's strong project pipeline is being supported by continued exploration success, with exploration expenditure rising by 49 per cent in the June 2026 quarter compared with the same quarter in 2025.
The five projects are:
· Arafura Rare Earths' Nolans Project
· KGL Resources' Jervois Copper Project
· Tennant Mines' Nobles Gold Operation
· The restart of Core Lithium's Finniss Lithium Operation
· Newmont's Tanami Mine Expansion
At Nolans Project, construction is now moving forward following the project's FID, with work packages already being advertised through the Industry Capability Network, creating immediate opportunities for local businesses.
