Minister Anand Heads to Brazil

Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that she will travel to São Paulo, Brazil, on July 14, 2026.

While there, Minister Anand will meet with Mauro Vieira, Brazil's Minister of Foreign Affairs, to co-chair the fifth bilateral Strategic Partnership Dialogue. This meeting will help advance discussions on key issues, including security and defence cooperation, trade and investment, science and technology, environment and climate, and other foreign policy priorities. The Strategic Partnership Dialogue is an important mechanism for Canada and Brazil to strengthen their long-standing relationship through regular, high-level meetings on both regional and international realities.

Minister Anand will also engage with private-sector stakeholders to discuss trade diversification and gather perspectives on emerging market opportunities, market access and barriers to international trade, including the benefits for both countries' private sectors of a potential Canada-MERCOSUL free trade agreement, the negotiations for which are ongoing.
