Minister Anand Meets Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Chief

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, at the Munich Security Conference, held from February 13 to 15, 2026, in Germany.

Minister Anand reiterated Canada's unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its people. She reaffirmed Canada's readiness to contribute to multilateral security guarantees for Ukraine as part of the Coalition of the Willing. Minister Anand also reaffirmed Canada's commitment to strengthening economic pressure on Russia to degrade its ability to wage war.

The ministers discussed ongoing efforts toward a just and lasting peace, including developments in the peace process and Canada's continued engagement on the return of prisoners of war, unlawfully detained civilians and illegally deported and forcibly transferred children, notably through the co-chairing of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children with Ukraine.

Minister Anand reaffirmed Canada's commitment to supporting Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction, including energy security.
