Minister Ferguson's Planning Failures Could be His Last

Tasmanian Labor

The Premier should have no option but to dump meddling Michael Ferguson from the Planning portfolio after last night's extraordinary vote to censure him by Clarence City Council.

The motion was passed 10-1, a damning reflection on Minister Ferguson.

In addition to validating what everyone was thinking about Ferguson's growing list of Planning failings, this unprecedented vote is further confirmation of just how hopeless Ferguson is as a Minister overall.

He has been a failure in every portfolio he has held. He was sacked by Will Hodgman because of his failures in Health and his lack of delivery as Infrastructure Minister is almost too sad to be true.

Since taking charge of the state's finances, Treasurer Ferguson also has Tasmania on target for record debt.

Now councils are so frustrated by his failures in planning they are moving extraordinary censure motions.

When Michael Ferguson decided to attack a council for following his own rules he sent a loud message that he had lost control.

Ferguson's lack of planning policy and aggressive behaviour is a bad look for the Liberals, and it has come back to bite him.

If Jeremy Rockliff wasn't on such shaky ground within his own party room, he would surely relieve meddling Michael Ferguson of the Planning portfolio.
