Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, launched her upcoming trade mission to Chile.

In January 2023, the Canada Trade Mission to Chile will explore business opportunities in Chile's clean technology and green growth sectors, and mark the 25th anniversary of the Canada-Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA).

During a virtual information session on October 25, participants received an overview of the program for the upcoming in-person trade mission. They also discussed the market opportunities in Chile and how the trade mission can support Canadian exporters in achieving their international business development objectives.

Minister Ng shared her experience in leading virtual and in-market trade missions and highlighted the many opportunities for Canadian entrepreneurs to meet Chile's strong and growing demand for clean technology solutions and services. She also participated in a fireside chat with representatives of Canadian companies Solmax and Hytech who spoke about their export journeys in Chile and what led to their success in the region.

Canada and Chile have enjoyed strong diplomatic relations for 81 years, buoyed by equally strong bilateral and commercial relations. Both countries share deep commitments to inclusive trade and gender equality, the inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises in international trade, responsible business conduct, environmental protection, and labour rights.
