Minister of Energy Meets with Commissioner Jørgensen

The Minister and Commissioner reaffirmed the strength of the Canada-EU energy relationship and its importance in advancing shared objectives on energy security, economic resilience, and the energy transition. They underscored the value of sustained engagement in the lead-up to the Canada-EU Leaders' Summit in October 2026, with a focus on identifying concrete deliverables.

Their discussion centred on opportunities to deepen cooperation across priority areas, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), critical minerals, nuclear energy, electrification, and clean technologies. The Minister highlighted Canada's potential to support global energy security and European diversification efforts, including through low-emissions LNG, and emphasized the importance of investment certainty and policy frameworks that enable infrastructure development.

The Minister and Commissioner also co-hosted an Energy Security Business Roundtable, bringing together Ministers from EU member states and senior industry executives to discuss greater Canada-EU energy supply chain integration.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance Canada-EU energy cooperation and to continue work at the officials' level to support outcomes for the Canada-EU Leaders' Summit.
