From: Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Toronto, Ontario, on Friday, June 7, 2019.

The meeting follows Minister Freeland's visit to Havana, Cuba, on May 16, 2019. Earlier this week, the Minister attended a meeting of the Lima Group and the International Contact Group on Venezuela in New York City. Tomorrow, she will attend the 14th meeting of the Lima Group in Guatemala.

Minister Rodríguez Parrilla's visit will provide an opportunity for both ministers to discuss the role that Cuba can play in a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Venezuela. Canada and Cuba will also discuss how they are responding to the U.S. decision to end the suspension of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

"I look forward to welcoming Minister Rodríguez Parrilla to my home city of Toronto. The visit will provide an opportunity for us to build on the conversation we had in Havana, particularly with regard to the economic, political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela."

- Hon. Chrystia Freeland, P.C., M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs
