Yesterday, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, spoke with Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Minister Sidhu and Minister Goyal exchanged views on the Canada-India economic relationship and advancing commercial links between the two countries, building on discussions from the Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment that took place in November in India.
The ministers also discussed preparations to launch negotiations for a new comprehensive economic partnership agreement that was announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 Leaders' Summit in South Africa last month.
Minister Sidhu looks forward to welcoming Minister Goyal to Canada in the new year.
