Nationals Member for Northern Tablelands, Brendan Moylan, has called on the NSW Government to stop delaying and start building the Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment.
In 2021, it was announced the Glen Innes Hospital would undergo a redevelopment which would see a new acute services building added to house the emergency department, medical imaging, ambulance bays, and a new main entry, along with upgrades to the operating theatre and the birthing suite.
Following the preliminary announcement, a lead design team was appointed.
In 2022, additional funding was announced, along with a master plan, and then the design roll out.
The first, and only sign, of progress was when old nurses' building was demolished in 2023.
Since then, any actual progress has stalled, and design plans have been re-rolled out again and again.
In May 2024, the Minns Labor Government announced construction would begin in 2025 but, as of November, nothing has started.
Mr Moylan gave a Notice of Motion in Parliament on Wednesday requesting the NSW Government get on with the job.
"The Glen Innes community has been patient enough and is fed up with seeing no progress made on a project which was announced more than four years ago and is fully funded," he said.
"It is incredibly frustrating to see a construction zone up but no movement from within.
"The Minns Labor Government needs to stop talking and start building."
