Missing 81yo Cairns woman believed to be in Townsville

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate 81-year-old Cairns woman Barbara O'Connor who was reported missing on January 21 after she failed to return to her CBD accommodation.

Ms O'Connor, who lives a nomadic lifestyle, had booked in to stay several nights at a city backpackers with concerns raised when she failed to check-out on Tuesday, leaving all her possessions behind.

Police investigations have revealed that Ms O'Connor caught a bus from Cairns to Townsville on Monday, January 20.

Ms O'Connor has no known association with the Townsville area and concerns are held for her safety and wellbeing as although she lives a nomadic lifestyle staying in various backpacker type accommodation she doesn't leave her possessions behind.

She is described as Caucasian, with a thin build, white hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing a white cap, an orange skirt with a flora pattern, t-shirt with a cat face printed on the front, sandals and was carrying a shoulder sling style bag (as per CCTV image).

Anyone who has seen Ms O'Connor or has any information in relation to her current whereabouts is urged to contact police (details below).
