- Twice daily train services to return from both Perth and Bunbury
- Second Australind train to enter service from Monday, 12 October
- Increased services to provide more opportunities for those in the South West to travel for work, study and essential services
- Cook Labor Government doubling the frequency of Australind services from early 2027 once two remaining trains enter passenger service
Passengers will enjoy full train services departing from both Perth and Bunbury when the second Australind train returns on Monday, 12 October.
The locally-built three-car train has undergone extensive testing on the rail network in recent months to ensure the highest standards of safety and performance before welcoming passengers onboard.
From Monday, Australind services will run twice daily, with one morning and one afternoon service departing from Perth and Bunbury.
This includes:
- Perth to Bunbury departures: 9:25am and 5:55pm; and
- Bunbury to Perth departures: 6:00am and 2:45pm.
Replacement road coach services will stop once the second train enters service, with the final day of replacement coach operations being Sunday, 11 October.
The second train will be named Kwilena, the Noongar word for dolphin, following a community naming competition earlier this year.
The first of the new Australind trains - named Marley after the dingo who lived at Bunbury Port - entered passenger service on Monday, 29 June, and has already carried more than 12,000 passengers between Perth and Bunbury.
Each of the new Australind trains will feature unique artwork by a local Indigenous artist.
The second train will feature artwork from Noongar artist, Graham 'Swag' Taylor called 'Little Helpers', depicting life on the Aboriginal reserves of the South West.
The new trains are providing passengers with a contemporary on-board experience including wider doors, modern onboard toilets, improved accessibility, in-seat USB-C charging and dedicated storage for bikes with an onboard buffet.
The Australind's stopping pattern will remain unchanged, with services operating on the original route between Perth and Bunbury, stopping at Armadale, Byford, Mundijong, Serpentine, North Dandalup, Pinjarra, Waroona, Yarloop, Cookernup, Harvey and Brunswick Junction.
