A 17-year-old boy missing from Cascade Trail in Kosciuszko National Park has been located safe and well.
Following extensive inquiries including a geo-text message and a multi-agency search, with the assistance from SES, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW National Parks and Wildlife service, the boy was located on a walking trail, approximately 30km away from where he was last seen.
He is being checked by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.
Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim from Monaro Police District said, planning and preparing for your trip into the Alpine area is essential for your safety.
"While the Kosciuszko National Park is in a beautiful place to enjoy bushwalking, it can be a dangerous place if you do not plan your trip carefully."
"Bushwalkers are urged to always submit trip intention form to the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services and to have suitable clothing, and carry sufficient water and food. Always check the weather and tell someone reliable where you're going and when you intend to return. It is also strongly advised to carry a personal locator beacon (PLB) with you when venturing into the Park. You can't always rely on mobile phone reception" Detective Inspector Sim said.
Police would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal.
