Mock crash site for RFDS plane landing

South Australia Police in conjunction with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) are conducting a practice landing exercise on Thursday 27 April.

The aim of the exercise is to practice emergency services' capability and response to a road crash in an isolated area. The location will be at the Alf Traeger Roadstrip, 150 km south of Coober Pedy on the Stuart Highway.

The exercise will involve representatives from SA Ambulance Service, CFS, SES, RFDS and police.

The start of the exercise is scheduled for 12pm, with the landing of the RFDS plane scheduled for about 12.15pm. A helicopter will also be in the area, filming the exercise.

The Stuart Highway will be closed briefly for the landing and departure of the aircraft.

The public are thanked for their patience.
