Fairfield City Council is proud to welcome Mona Mohamed as our Australia Day Ambassador for 2026. Mona is a passionate community leader and founder of Community Support Services Inc. (CSS) a grassroots organisation transforming lives across Western Sydney.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Mona's story of resilience and dedication to helping others makes her an inspiring representative for our community.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise Mona's achievements and the positive impact she has had on families across Western Sydney and our community," Mayor Carbone said.

"We look forward to welcoming her and sharing her story with our community on Australia Day."

Mona said being part of Australia Day is about more than celebration, it is about the values we embody.

"Australia Day is a chance to reflect on our shared humanity and the power of community," she said.

Mona established CSS in 2018 to provide education, employment and wellbeing programs for families in need. From English classes and vocational training to emergency food relief and support for women escaping domestic violence, her work has transformed thousands of lives.

During the pandemic, her team distributed more than 150,000 kgs of food to 25,000 people, and furnished homes for women in crisis.

Mona's leadership has earned numerous accolades including Bankstown Local Woman of the Year (2024) and recognition as a NSW Local Hero finalist at the Australian of the Year Awards.
