Below is an update about upcoming disruptions on the Monash and Princes freeways as part of Stage 2 of the Monash Freeway Upgrade.
Works are underway to resurface the Monash and Princes freeways. Major delays are expected throughout Summer with the works to be completed during Autumn 2022.
Traffic impacts
Freeway daytime lane closures – major delays
There will be lanes closed and speed reductions on the Monash Freeway between Warrigal Road and EastLink until April.
There will be changed traffic conditions with the middle lane closed at times. Please plan ahead and seek an alternate route.
Overnight freeway closures
Monash Freeway
The Monash Freeway will be closed in the inbound direction between Warrigal Road and Wellington Road:
- Sunday 20 March 9:30pm to 5am
- Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 from 8pm to 5am
- Thursday 24 March inbound from 8:30pm to 5am
Detour via Wellington Road, Princes Highway and Warrigal Road.
The Monash Freeway will be closed in the outbound direction between Wellington Road and Stud Road on:
- Saturday 19 March from midnight to 8am
- Sunday 20 March from 10:30pm to 5:30am
- Monday 21, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 March from 9pm to 5:30am
- Thursday 24 March from 11pm to 5:30am
Detour via Wellington Road and Stud Road
Princes Freeway
The Princes Freeway will be closed between Princes Highway and Beaconsfield Interchange
- in the inbound direction Saturday 19 March from 8pm to 7:30am
- in the inbound direction on Sunday 20 March from 8pm to 5am
- in the outbound direction each night from Monday 21 March until Wednesday 23 March from 9pm to 5:30am
- in the outbound direction on Thursday 24 March from 9:30pm to 5:30am
Detour via Princes Highway
Daytime ramp closures
- The Blackburn Road outbound entry ramp will be closed until 5am Monday 28 March. Detour via Springvale Road
- The Blackburn Road inbound exit ramp will be closed until 5am Saturday 2 April. Detour via Forster Road
- The Ferntree Gully Road inbound entry ramp will be closed until 5am Saturday 2 April. Detour via Blackburn Road
- The Jackson Road outbound entry ramp will be closed until 5am Thursday 14 April. Detour via Stud Road
